City

With the intention of seeking the relationship between nature and artifice, I have done this work in different places in a large city, isolating nature in order to show its uniqueness in a hostile environment such as the urban one, where the tree has had to adapt to the environment that we have imposed on it.

The city and trees represent a debate between human identity and what is natural, between the desire for control and the identification of being part of a larger ecosystem. The presence of the tree in the city gives it an aura that relates the past to the present and invites us to pause, to contemplate and to open spaces to imagine a harmonious coexistence with them.

When doing the work I paid attention to the branches, that part of the tree that are its arms, the limbs with which it draws its lines and makes its compositions. The branches are traces of energy that bend, stretch and connect, following a rhythm that is both organic and cosmic. There is a dialogue between them: with their flexibility and movement they form a narrative, very expressive complex networks, always following specific growth patterns. In the paths that the branches make there are companions that give meaning to the tree: the leaves. With their connection they maintain a bond of subsistence, so they are mutualists. The branches symbolize structural growth, the form that gives support and direction, while the leaves embody the flowering of this structure, the visible manifestation of growth.
